This family home in central Reading was thoughtfully transformed using a range of Italian Ottocento and Multidecor Skin by Oikos decorative paint techniques to create a refined yet welcoming interior. A light, harmonious colour palette was adopted throughout the main circulation areas to enhance natural light and provide a sense of flow between spaces.

The entrance hallway was finished in Camoscio, a distinctive Oikos texture renowned for its natural elegance and velvety softness. This finish brings depth and warmth to the walls, subtly shifting with the light and effortlessly elevating the space while maintaining a calm, sophisticated atmosphere.

These rooms were finished with OTTOCENTO, the iconic Oikos decorative paint renowned for bringing the warm beauty of velvet to interior walls. First introduced in 1998, OTTOCENTO is the original velvet-effect decorative finish—an ecological product that recreates a luxurious fabric-like appearance, changing character according to the angle at which light strikes the surface. Historically used in mansions and prestigious residences to achieve elegant and exclusive interiors, OTT0CENTO continues to define contemporary decorative surfaces, now and into the future. The product is also available in a matt version and is certified Class A+ for low emissions, ensuring both aesthetic excellence and environmental responsibility.

To complete the transformation, the existing solid wood flooring was painted with durable Tikkurila wood floor paint, carefully selected to complement the newly chosen soft tones of the landings. This not only refreshed the appearance of the floors but also ensured long-lasting performance suitable for a busy family home.

The result is a beautifully balanced interior that blends texture, colour, and craftsmanship, combining contemporary decorative finishes with practical durability.
